You are awakened by the soft rustling of the forest. Outside, the wind slips through the coigües and lenga trees, and the Toro Lake begins to reflect the first shades of dawn. From bed, covered with a blanket, you watch the sky turn pink through the central dome of your yurt.
In the distance, the Paine Massif begins to loom into sharp relief. It is still early, but you know there is no rush. You are in Patagonia, surrounded by silence, nature and that feeling of being in exactly the right place.
Originally from Central Asia, yurts – or gers, as they are called in Mongolia – are circular structures that have been used by nomadic people for more than two thousand years. Their shape follows both practical and symbolic logic: they resist wind, retain heat, and their open, cornerless interior invites sharing.
At their center, the upper circle that once served as a smoke outlet now becomes a window to the sky. At Patagonia Camp, we have adapted this ancestral construction to the Patagonian landscape, fusing tradition and modernity.
Sleeping in a yurt is not only resting: it is listening to the rain without getting wet, seeing the stars without getting out of bed, and feeling that you are part of the landscape without leaving a trace. Everything is designed to take care of the environment and offer you a comfortable stay: from the elevated paths that protect the vegetation to the use of clean energy and sustainable waste management.
At Patagonia Camp, each yurt is a refuge. A circular pause in the middle of the landscape, where architecture is at the service of the environment and the traveler’s wellbeing. Whether you are traveling alone, as a couple or as a family, there is a yurt waiting for you to spend an unforgettable night under the stars.
