The trail to the Grey Lookout is situated on the western side of the “W” circuit, traversing the slopes of Mount Paine Grande after a 30-minute boat journey across Lake Pehoe from the Pudeto Sector. Initially, we traverse a basin of sedimentary rock through a relatively flat trail until reaching the western face of Paine Grande.
The path traverses gently rolling ravines, presenting physical challenges for adventurers and culminating at the Grey Glacier Lookout. This breathtaking vantage point offers a panoramic view of Lake Grey and its majestic glacier in the distance. From the lookout, visitors can truly experience the raw and untamed power of nature in Southern Patagonia.
*This excursion involves a catamaran crossing of Lake Pehoé, operated by an external company with limited availability. Tickets cost USD 60 (round-trip), are nominative and date-specific. We recommend informing our reservations team of your interest in taking this excursion at the time of booking, as availability is not guaranteed.
**For this excursion the use of trekking poles is mandatory, the hotel provides these implements for all its guests.
At times, the trail offers views of icebergs drifting across the lake, accompanied by the distinctive chill of Patagonian winds. After completing the hike, guests will wait at the Paine Grande refuge for a minimum of 1 hour and 30 minutes before the earliest afternoon arrival of the catamaran for the return journey across Lake Pehoé.
We provide travelers with trekking poles, helmets and give them a reusable water bottle.
